DR. Walter Jaoko, Chairperson

walter-jaokoDr. Jaoko, is currently a professor since 2012, was an asssociate professor in 2008 and senior lecturer in 1998. He holds a PhD in medical microbiology, a Masters in Tropical Medicine, 2 Bachelors Degree,one in medicine and another in surgery and also a Diploma in Research Methodology. Walters’ area of expertise is in ethics, research and infectious diseases he is passionate about evidence based medicine, ethics and good co-operate governance. DR. Walter Jaoko is married with two children.

Mike Mutungi – Secretary

Mike Mutungi is the Founder and CEO of I Choose Life – Africa. He holds a Bachelors’ of Science in Civil Engineering degree from the University of Nairobi and a Master of Divinity from NIST. He has a passion for development and has designed programs around Health, Education, Economic Empowerment, Leadership & Governance as well as institutional Strengthening for over 20years. Mike is currently the Chairperson of the Health NGO’s Network (HENNET). He chair and sits in the board of several companies among them Planning Interiors and Jiinue Microcredit.

He is also an Elder at the Nairobi Chapel charged with planning. He has a passion for strategic planning building teams that influence and impact change in their community. He has overseen the development of strategic plans for programs and organizations in Africa, Europe and the Middle East. He is the author of Kenya Mpya; Selecting and Holding leaders to account.

Teresa Barasa, Member

I am a public policy and program management expert with extensive experience in public and private sectors. She has been at the helm of policy making, policy implementation and reforms and has led high-level policy dialogues that includes the 4th Presidential Roundtable, streamlined organizational operations, and spearheaded impact-driven initiatives in economic development, health, education, and environment. As a former KEPSA manager, she influenced national policy reforms for a conducive business environment.

Zainab Dhanani, Member

Experienced Senior Education Adviser with a demonstrated history of working with large scale, globally implemented donor funded programmes. Skilled in Strategic Leadership roles, Team Management, Program Management, Financial Management, Risk Management, and Program Evaluation. Strong Education/ECD professional with a Master’s Degree focused in Public Health from Queen’s University.

Esther Wangai, Member

Am a highly resourceful and competent Human Resource Professional with 6+ years’ of progressive experience and a practical understanding of business needs. I have demonstrated achievements in managing integrated human resource management programs that exceed productivity goals in multi-cultural business environments. Offering an array of skills in Hiring & Retention, Labour Agreements, Regulatory Compliance, Office Administration, Personnel Records Management, Compensation Administration, Performance Management and Employee Welfare among other human resource functions.

Ann Karau, Member

I am a seasoned development practitioner with over 13 years experience in not-for-profit programming. I bring a rich public health background and passion for influencing public policy, which I leverage to spearhead a systematic approach to development.

My passion for driving sustainable change in communities consistently leads me to explore new frontiers in programming trends and systems which can generate both lasting impact and operational excellence. As such, I have invested the last seven years of my career in active and increasingly demanding program design and development and quality assurance roles. In the process, I have honed valuable experience in designing, innovating and managing development programs across various sectors.

Dr. Carol Ngunu, Member

She is also the Director, preventive and Promotive Health Services-Nairobi County. Dr. Ngunu is an Epidemiologist and Public Health programs Specialist with Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) University of Nairobi and Masters in Epidemiology from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
