Mike Mutungi carries out an assessment among University of Nairobi students and isolates HIV, Money and Music as the critical issues affecting university students. This birthed the ‘I Choose Life’ Movement.

I Choose Life-Africa develops the 2nd Strategic Plan focusing on Sexual and Reproductive Health, Economic Empowerment, Academic and Career Mentoring and Leadership and Governance (SEAL) as programmatic pillars reaching to over 1 million youth on behavioral change messages and HIV testing.

I Choose Life-Africa develops the 3rd Strategic Plan on the Health, Economic Empowerment, Academic and Career Mentoring and Leadership and Governance
- Through the FANIKISHA Project, with funds from USAID through MSH, ICL’s systems and structures were strengthened for better service delivery.
- ICL developed from being a sub-grantee to grant management; ICL sub-granted to 7 local organizations.
- ICL has grown to provide institutional strengthening to more than 10 local and international organizations.
